Luv2Groove Workshops!💃🕺

Woohoo!

Luv2Groove is back this year!

This is the *BEST* series of workshops! Professional dancers come to our school and teach our kids the coolest moves and choreography! There’s great music and great fun! We learn hip hop, some breakdancing moves, some jazz, some funk… We dance in our own gym as the dancers come to us, and we have 3, sometimes 4, sessions over a two week period! Oh, it’s incredible and the students *LOVE* it! I love it!!!!

It costs: $6.75. Please pay at schoolcashonline as soon as possible!!!!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am excited to share with you the importance of our Dance Curriculum and an upcoming activity that promises to be both engaging and educational.

Dance is an integral part of our curriculum, offering students numerous benefits beyond just physical exercise. Through dance, students enhance their coordination, rhythm, and physical fitness. More importantly, it fosters creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Dance also encourages teamwork and helps students develop a sense of discipline and perseverance.

We are thrilled to announce that our class will be participating in an exciting event called Luv2Groove. This activity is designed to make dance both fun and educational. Students will engage in various dance styles and routines that will help them apply the skills they've learned in a lively and supportive environment. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their talents and work collaboratively with their peers.

We believe that the Luv2Groove activity will be a memorable experience for the students and a wonderful way to highlight the importance of dance in their overall development. We encourage you to discuss the event with your child and support their participation with enthusiasm.

We were able to secure a discounted rate of $6.75 for your child to participate in dance lessons, tailored to their grade level and abilities. Please use School Cash Online to pay the fee. If paying in cash would be your preference, please send the money with your child to school.

This workshop will be the springboard into our dance unit whereby students will take what they learn in Luv2Groove in order to build their own dance routines in term two.

Thank you for your continued support in making our dance program a success. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

♡‧₊˚🎤Winter Concert Video: Memories🎸🎶‎♡‧₊˚!

Three months ago, they would never have believed that they would be playing this song all fingerstyled with the complex picking pattern and the G chord, let alone the Em chord! Oh, how they complained about G at the beginning! Now it’s considered one of the easy ones!

Sandra, Kristen, and Zahra are singing ‘Memories’ for us.

✖️➕Math League Log-in Information➗➖

A little while ago, parents signed their child up for the Math League Competition (usually held in the new year).

WEJ has done very well in this national competition over the years. We usually rank in the top! Sometimes number 1, sometimes 2, but always very high!

This is the log-in information so your child can start preparing for the competition.

The website can be reached with this link: Math League Adaptive Learning System

Students will use their OCDSB email address as a username. The password is EHGHQD.

Remember, it will seem hard now, but the more practice they do, the better their score will be! The top ranked kids are always the ones that practice the most!

🏃We run for Terry!

On Friday, we participated in the annual Terry Fox Run. During the last block of the day, with the tunes blaring, the entire school ran laps of our field in honour of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.

Mr Bradley does an excellent job organizing this event for the school every year. On Thursday, he shared with us the movie, ‘Terry’, an incredibly inspiring retell of Terry Fox’s decision to run and his perseverence throughout all the challenges.

This week, Leah in our class shared with us her experience as a cancer survivor.  Leah will be 10 Years Cancer Free as of December 16th of this year. She was four months old when she was diagnosed with Infantile Fibrosarcoma. She brought in her Cancer Survivor medallion and courage beads the doctors gifted her.

We had beautiful weather for our run! It was a great experience with our friends!
