Last week, we had a bus safety assembly. The presenters made it into a fun gameshow that really got the students engaged!
From our class, Anis and Jackson went toe to toe in the trivia.
Hello WEJ Families,
We are excited to once again offer the Math League Contest to interested students in grades 4, 5 and 6.
This will be a 30-minute online timed challenge written under supervision at school on an assigned date in the winter/spring.
Students who are registered are expected to participate in at least one practice test from home in October to ensure their username and password work (shared once registration is completed by Math League) and that they are familiar with the format. They are encouraged to practice after this, leading up to the contest.
Families are encouraged to work together and discuss how to solve the questions. Most students will not be able to do many problems in the beginning, but with practice, they will improve. A math contest increases in difficulty as you work through it and is designed so that it would be extremely rare and challenging for a student of each age group to get each of the questions correct during the limited time allotted.
We encourage our students to see how much they can improve from their first attempt until the day of the contest.
Register you child HERE by Monday, September 29, 2025
(If you have more than one child in grades 4-6, the form can be submitted more than once.)
Thank you! Best of luck to our participants!
On Thursday afternoon, Hydro Ottawa will be bringing the Electricity Safety & Conservation (ES&C) Program to WEJ. We will have speakers present to us in the school gym about hydro electricity and safety. After the presentation, students will have an opportunity to ask questions. For a preview of the presentation, you can view a recording of a session previously held in Ottawa here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc4DWv3A5NQ
Once again, we are collecting donations for our School Terry Fox Run – Friday, October 10th!
This year’s 45th anniversary Terry Fox Run shirt features the Finish It logo—symbolizing our shared commitment to help finish Terry’s marathon against cancer. On the back of the shirt, Terry runs ahead—seen from behind, leading millions of people to carry forward his fight against cancer.
When you buy a new Terry Fox shirt (Youths – $25 and adults – $30), all of the proceeds are added to our fundraising total and go directly to The Terry Fox Foundation. They are also available in French this year!
Orders must be placed by Sunday, September 28th.
It would be amazing to see everyone wearing their Terry Fox shirts during our School Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 10th! Thanks for your support!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
You are invited to come to the school to Meet the Teacher on Thursday, September 18th, from 4:30-6:00 pm. The purpose of this event is for you and your family to come to the school and have your child(ren) tour you through their school and their class and introduce you to their teachers in an informal setting. Please drop by Room 106 for a visit and to have your child take you on a little tour of our learning space! Just a reminder that if you wish to speak to me about your child’s learning needs, we can certainly arrange for a separate meeting on another day. Teachers will not be available to have private meetings with parents during Meet the Teacher night.
Hope to see you and your family on Thursday!
