Congratulations to our WEJ Chess Team (Florence, Jerry, Sri, Timothy, Michael, and Yixiao) for a fantastic showing at yesterday’s tournament at Earl of March! The team placed third out of eight schools, finishing just half a point behind second place and only two points behind first! Great job, everyone!

Message from Ms Janes, who is organizing this season’s clothing drive:
We are continuing in our fundraising initiative to support our local community by collecting new hats, mittens, and scarves. All donated items will be given to the Salvation Army and Chrysalis House.
Thank you in advance for your support. Your participation will help bring warmth and comfort to members of our community this winter.

We’ve added a brand new feature to MsStephensismyteacher.com! The Daily Agenda is now available for parents to view!

Since the first day of school, Students *must* fill out their agenda every day at the end of the school day. If they show me a completed agenda, I place a scratch n’ sniff sticker on their entry! The agenda must go home every night and come back every morning in order to be used properly.
The Daily Agenda page here at the BLOG is a comprehensive list in case the agenda has been forgotten at school, or if someone is absent, or if the agenda becomes lost.
To view the ‘Daily Agenda’, please click on the link at the top of the page, or side bar, depending on if you’re viewing the BLOG on a phone, tablet, or laptop.
If you have any questions or concerns or ideas to improve the BLOG, please send me an email any time!
🙂

Here are the instructions about accessing the progress reports…
(Just please note, I’m unable to give OEN numbers over email! If you can’t find the OEN number, you must call the school tomorrow between 8am and 4pm and ask for it over the phone!)
OCDSB parents/caregivers, guardians and eligible students receive report cards directly in their email. This enables easy and secure access to report cards.
Parents/caregivers and guardians, who have provided their email addresses to their child’s school, will receive an email from the school that contains the link to download the secure PDF report card. Students in grades 7-12 will receive the report card link in their OCDSB student email addresses. Students who are over 18 years of age, can receive the report card link in their personal emails if they have indicated that as their preference to the school.
Enter the Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report card. When entering the OEN, please include the hyphens (dashes). The format should be XXX-XXX-XXX. The OEN can be found on any previous provincial report cards.
For students with alternative learning expectations documented in their Individual Education Plan (IEP), an Alternative Report Card is being issued along with the provincial report card.
We request parents, guardians and eligible students (over 18 years of age) to verify their email address with their child’s school. For parents and guardians without an email account, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
This is a notice to all the students who signed up to compete in the national Math League contest. We will be writing the contest on:
Grade 6: Wednesday, February 18
On Thursday, we are very fortunate to have a guest speaker coming into our classroom to deliver a storytelling workshop. This is a wondeful opportunity brought to us by the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM). Fatemah Anvari is an incredible facilitator with a background in education and advocacy.
Title: Storytelling: Reclaiming Your Narrative
Tomorrow we’re having a “Going Away Party” for a student who is moving away! Tomorrow is his last day!
We’re going to miss him sooooooo much!
I’ve invited the students to bring snacks and treats (must be nut free) and board games! I’ll order pizza for the class, too! We’ll have a proper goodbye for one of our favourite people!
