Mr Bradley’s and Ms Stephens’s classes star in OZ! The Musical, an adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! It will be on Thursday, June 18th, at 12:30pm in the W. Erskine Johnston School gym and YOU ARE INVITED!

Today, we were learning about the upcoming Artemis II mission – and how a Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, will be travelling around the moon! The mission should take place around the first of April! This will be a monumental occasion for us as it will be the first time a Canadian gets to travel to the moon! (We learned, however, that they will not be landing on the moon. That is for a later mission: Artemis IV.)
Did you know we are having a lunar eclipse tonight?
The moon will turn red and if the sky is clear enough, we should be able to see it between 3:44 am and 6:39 am!

Tomorrow is 👚Pink Shirt Day! It is an anti-bullying day all across Canada!
If you have a pink shirt, please remember to wear it to show we are not okay with bullying!
In gym class, we were learning how to curl!
We were lucky to book Luv2Groove for four sessions! We learned all sorts of dance moves and even some cool routines and played dance games! Everyone was up and moving! It’s such a great way to be active and to be creative and have fun!
These photos are from day 2, last Friday!
The Math League Contest is on February 18th! It’ll be here before you know it!
Please check on how many practice tests your child has completed. Ask them to show you how they practice! Encourage them to practice as much as they can!
On Friday, we will be having a math unit test on algebra.
The test will include:
-the difference between expressions and equations
-writing expressions in words and words into expressions
-collecting like terms
-substitution to solve expressions
-one and two step equations (including checking your work!)
-solving and graphing inequalities
-using algebraic expressions to represent a linear pattern

MP Jenna Sudds visiting January 22nd 9:15-10:30
For our next unit in social studies, we will be looking at Canada and how it interacts with the rest of the world. We learn about international accords, treaties, and organizations that Canada is a part of. And we learn about how the federal government responds to different issues.
So what a perfect time to get to listen to our local Member of Parliament, Jenna Sudds, speak and answer our questions!
She will be giving a talk to the 5s and our 6s on January 22 at 9:15am.
If you have any questions, please email me!
Today in science class, we had the STEM challenge of building our own ‘Canadarm’.
The Canadarm is an important Canadian space innovation!

After Mr McCoy gave us a brief lesson about the Canadarm and how it moves and functions, students were put into teams to engineer their own mini Canadarms! We designed and started to build today! They had amazing ideas! Great creative problem solving skills!
